A man in Hsinchu County has been charged for sending a bomb threat to Taiwan High Speed Rail, a case that briefly raised safety fears for stations and trains.

• He sent the message "there really is a bomb on the high speed rail" through the rail company's online customer service chat in April.
• He did it from his office computer in Zhubei, using a private browsing window to hide his tracks.
• Railway police tracked him down and prosecutors in Taoyuan have now formally charged him.
• The charge is interfering with rail staff doing their jobs through threats, which carries up to three years in prison and a fine.
