Aug 22, 2026

Kuomintang New Taipei City mayoral candidate Li Si-chun visited grassroots community groups in Banqiao and Tucheng, campaigning on healthcare policy — a positive signal for support among Banqiao residents and hometown association voters.

  • Li Si-chun attended the Ghost Festival peace banquet at Banqiao's Shenqiu Fude Temple, offering prayers and thanking the temple for its many years of charitable work.
  • He reiterated his healthcare policy: replicating the Tucheng Hospital experience and accelerating the Banqiao medical park project.
  • The healthcare needs of Banqiao's roughly 550,000 residents are a key focus, with plans to redevelop the site on a BOT basis and bring in a large teaching hospital.
  • The new hospital would include a women's and children's section, cancer screening, night-time emergency services and long-term care accommodation, linking up the division of medical services across Banqiao, Tucheng and Zhonghe.
  • In the evening he moved on to Tucheng to attend the New Taipei City Matsu Hometown Association gathering, drawing on his shared background as someone from an outlying island who came north to make a living.

Outlook: With the campaign heating up, Li Si-chun is expected to continue shoring up his New Taipei vote base through healthcare infrastructure pledges and cultivation of grassroots temples and hometown associations.
