Li Si-chuan admits he misremembered the route of bus 307, proposes joint Taipei–New Taipei bus management

Aug 21, 2026

Kuomintang New Taipei City mayoral candidate Li Si-chuan apologised for misremembering a bus route, and used the occasion to push for joint management of cross-city bus services between Taipei and New Taipei — a small piece of good news for New Taipei commuters.

  • Li Si-chuan wrongly said bus 307 ran on the freeway; the next day he rode the route himself, saying, "If I got it wrong, I admit it. I won't dodge it."
  • The problem lies in the morning rush hour, when several buses from New Taipei to Taipei arrive at once, while the return trips are often empty.
  • Cross-city bus routes and stops can only be changed with the approval of Taipei City's Department of Transportation, making scheduling hard to adjust flexibly.
  • He argues for using the Keelung–Taipei–New Taipei–Taoyuan platform for joint scheduling and Taipei–New Taipei co-governance, to reduce administrative bottlenecks between the two cities.
  • Yesterday he went to the Legislative Yuan to seek support from KMT and TPP legislators for the "Rail Construction 123" and "Urban Renewal 5 Power" policies, both of which require legal amendments and central government funding to move forward.

Outlook: With the campaign heating up, joint Taipei–New Taipei transport governance and rail construction pledges will be key points of contention in the period ahead.
