A house fire broke out early Saturday morning in Minxiong Township, Chiayi County, with a woman feared trapped inside — bad news for the family and a fast-moving emergency for local firefighters.

• Flames spread quickly through a home in Liaoding Village shortly after 6am and quickly grew out of control.
• The homeowner told firefighters his wife could not get out in time and was still inside.
• Nine fire units from across the county were called in, including crews from Dalin, Taibao, Xingang and Minxiong.
• Crews brought the fire under control by 7:30am and began searching the building.

Outlook: The search for the trapped woman is the immediate focus, with the cause of the fire to be investigated once the scene is safe.
