Banqiao upgrades sidewalks and basketball courts at seven parks
New Taipei's Banqiao district has finished repairs at seven parks, good news for people who walk, play, or use wheelchairs in one of the city's most crowded areas.
- Walking paths, ground surfaces, and basketball courts were rebuilt across seven parks over the past six months.
- Old, cracked, and broken surfaces that were a tripping hazard have been replaced.
- Xitou Park added wheelchair ramps and better drainage; Guangfu Park's path now connects to a neighboring park.
- At Guoguang Park, tree roots had pushed the pavement up and split it — that damage has been fixed.
- Three basketball courts got new concrete and acrylic playing surfaces, and one added LED lights for night play.
Outlook: With these seven done, the district is likely to keep working through its list of aging park facilities.
