Taoyuan delivery rider's scooter stolen, thief apologizes and returns it
A delivery rider in Taoyuan had his scooter stolen in seconds after leaving it running, but got it back the same evening — an odd, low-harm crime with a strange ending.
- The rider parked outside a shop in Luzhu district and carried a delivery inside without turning off the engine.
- A man stepped out of a taxi, saw the idling scooter, checked that nobody was watching, and rode off.
- The rider's phone was still mounted on the handlebars, so it went with the scooter.
- After repeated calls, the thief picked up, apologized over and over, and told the rider exactly where he had parked it.
- The scooter and phone were recovered, and police are now investigating.
Outlook: Security camera footage of the theft is circulating online, so an arrest looks likely despite the apology.
