A new footbridge over a busy Kaohsiung road will let people walk between two big parks without dodging traffic — good news for local families and walkers.

• The bridge crosses Songyi Road, which separates Guoling Nature Park from the Chengcing Lake area and carries heavy traffic.
• The main structure is already up, with the full project due to finish in October.
• It runs about 180 metres long and 3.5 metres wide, at a cost of NT$88.8 million.
• Once open, people can cross freely without waiting at lights or walking through traffic.
• The city is tying it together with Shuanghu Park to build one large connected green space.

Outlook: Expect the bridge to open in October and link the two parks into a single walking route.
