Six-motorcycle pileup on Taichung's Huanzhong Road injures five
A chain-reaction crash involving six motorcycles during Thursday morning rush hour left five riders hurt in Taichung's Xitun District, though none of the injuries were life-threatening.
- The crash started when a rider on Huanzhong Road said he could not brake in time and hit the motorcycle in front of him.
- Riders behind him could not stop either, and six bikes went down within seconds.
- All five injured riders had cuts and scrapes to their arms and legs and were taken to hospital out of danger.
- The slow lane was blocked, forcing commuters to squeeze past the wreckage or ride onto the sidewalk.
- Breath tests on the riders came back clean, and one rider left the scene on his own, saying he had not hit anyone.
Outlook: Police are still working out what caused the crash and who is at fault.
