After New Taipei City mayoral candidate Li Si-chuan admitted he had described the 307 bus route incorrectly, he went and rode it himself that afternoon — good news for commuters travelling between Taipei and New Taipei.

• During a visit to the Legislative Yuan, Li mistakenly believed that the 307 route running between Taipei and New Taipei travelled via the freeway, drawing mockery from the green camp.
• He admitted the error publicly on Facebook, saying that people in engineering look for solutions when they see a problem, and that afternoon he queued in heavy rain to board the bus.
• The 307 carries more passengers than any other bus route between the two cities, with more than 16 million rides in 2024 — the only route in Taiwan to top 10 million.
• He argued that cross-city bus routes and bridges across the river should not be administered separately by each side, and that residents should not bear the cost of departmental turf-guarding.

Outlook: Li's next step is to bring more cross-city transport networks into the Keelung-Taipei-New Taipei-Taoyuan cooperation platform, easing the burden on commuters.
