Drunk man smashes Kaohsiung home with rocks, injuring guard dog
A 69-year-old man is being sent to prosecutors in Kaohsiung after pelting a family's home with rocks and hurting their dog — bad news for him, and a small win for the household that reported it.
- A man walked up to a house in Fengshan late one July night and hurled rocks at it.
- The metal shutter and a living-room table were wrecked, and the family's guard dog was hit in the back leg.
- The homeowner, a woman in her fifties, reported it in early August, and security camera footage caught the whole thing.
- Police tracked the man down and he admitted he had been drinking, saying the dog's barking startled him and he threw rocks to scare it off.
- Investigators are not buying that explanation and are handing him over on intimidation and property damage charges.
Outlook: Animal protection officials will also review the case, so he could face separate penalties for injuring the dog.
