Chiang Wan-an's Number of Campaign Appearances for TPP Candidates Still Undecided
Friction has emerged in blue-white cooperation for the Taipei City councillor elections, which is bad news for Taiwan People's Party (TPP) candidates, as the Kuomintang (KMT) appears to be offering only limited campaign support.
- The KMT's Taipei City branch has said it hopes Chiang Wan-an will appear at campaign events for TPP candidates as few times as possible, and as late as possible.
- Some TPP candidates are unhappy as a result, feeling they are being given handouts or left to fend for themselves.
- Hsu Fu, a TPP candidate in the Songshan-Xinyi district, said the number and timing of the appearances have in fact not been finalised, and that what happened was individual councillors' opinions being amplified.
- Hsu stressed that this is the KMT's internal affair, and that TPP candidates will simply do their utmost to win support. He singled out Hsu Chiao-hsin's proposal of a "5 plus 1" blue-white win-win model for the Songshan-Xinyi constituency.
Outlook: The details of blue-white cooperation in Taipei's city councillor constituencies will continue to be contested, and the actual campaign appearance arrangements will only become clear after the KMT completes its internal coordination.
