Amazon has ended Walmart's decade-long run at the top of the global revenue rankings, and the wider list shows just how dominant American and Chinese giants remain.

• Half of the world's 30 biggest companies by revenue are American, and seven of them sit in the top 10.
• China's State Grid ranks third — the biggest state-owned company on earth — with three more Chinese energy and construction giants in the top 30.

• Taiwan has just one company on the list: Hon Hai, at number 23.
