Zhubei installs 360-degree cameras at four public sites
Zhubei City in Hsinchu County has put 4K panoramic cameras into four public recreation areas, a low-key safety upgrade aimed at swimmers, tennis players, and skaters.
- The cameras cover Crescent Bay beach, the Starry Sky tennis and pickleball courts, and an extreme sports park.
- Crescent Bay streams live video to the public; the other sites are for safety monitoring only.
- The gear is built to survive rain, dust, wind, and typhoons, so it runs year-round.
- City officials say the goal is fewer patrol costs and safer water and sports areas.
- The same technology is already used in Taiwan's six special municipalities and at Taroko National Park.
Outlook: More sites are likely to get the cameras as the city expands its smart monitoring setup.
