A 32-year-old man wanted in eight fraud and drug cases was caught in Kaohsiung by chance, ending a six-year run and sending him to prison for close to 15 years.

• Police stopped a car in Kaohsiung's Lingya district only because a back-seat passenger was not wearing a seat belt.
• The man in the front passenger seat turned out to be wanted in eight separate fraud and drug cases across six counties and cities.
• He first gave a fake ID number, but his photo did not match, so police took him in and confirmed his identity by fingerprint.
• He had been dodging arrest for six years and now faces a sentence of nearly 15 years.

Outlook: He has been handed over to prosecutors and will start serving the sentence already handed down against him.
