Taoyuan scam money mule caught after 13km high-speed chase
A teenage cash collector for a phone-scam ring was arrested in Taoyuan after a dangerous chase through city streets — good news for fraud victims, bad news for the gang.
- An 18-year-old showed up to collect cash from a victim who had already been tricked out of NT$100,000.
- The victim had reported the earlier fraud and agreed to help police set a trap near the meeting point.
- Spotting the officers, the man tried to pull the victim into his car, then sped off and ran red lights and drove into oncoming traffic for 13 kilometers before being stopped.
- The gang used a fake online-shopping scam, then pushed the same victim for a second cash handover.
Outlook: The suspect faces fraud charges plus traffic violations, and police are working up the chain to the ring's organizers.
