Tainan farm and seafood products enter Canada's mainstream market
Tainan is shipping three containers of fruit, seafood and processed foods to Canada, a modest win for local farmers looking to earn more abroad.
- One frozen and two chilled containers left Madou for Toronto and Vancouver.
- The load covers fresh fruit like Madou pomelo and Nanxi guava, plus frozen mango, milkfish belly, dried fruit, tea and noodles.
- Sixteen farmers, farm groups and food companies took part, working with Canada's biggest Taiwanese food importer.
- Exports have grown from 10 tonnes of pomelo in the first year to a much wider product range today.
Outlook: The goods go on sale in Canadian supermarkets, with a Toronto launch and tasting events to follow.
