Taichung workshops help young people start market-stall businesses
Taiwan's labor ministry is running free workshops in central Taiwan to help young people turn craft ideas into a paying stall business — good news for anyone starting small with little cash.
- The Central Taiwan branch of the Workforce Development Agency opens a beginner workshop on Aug. 22, covering how to build a first product, price it, and sell it.
- The main goal is fixing the classic rookie mistake: making the product but never working out what it costs.
- A follow-up class on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1 targets people who already sell at markets but can't build a brand or keep customers coming back.
- Since 2025 the center has run 72 startup training sessions for close to 2,000 attendees and six real market events, placing 70 young sellers in their first stall.
Outlook: Market stalls stay a cheap on-ramp to self-employment in Taiwan, and expect more of these publicly funded classes as personal-brand businesses keep growing.
