New station on Taipei MRT Red Line to open Aug. 30
Taipei is adding a new end station to its busiest metro line, good news for commuters and residents in the city's southeast.
- The Red Line will stretch 1.4 km past Xiangshan to the new Guangci/Fengtian Temple Station on Aug. 30.
- Transport regulators cleared the station for service this week after inspections.
- It links the Fude Street and Zhongpo South Road area to the rest of the network, near a public housing complex, a high school, and Fengtian Temple.
- Digging took nearly a decade — the platform sits about 10 stories down, through soft clay and then hard rock.
Outlook: Riders get the new stop at the end of the month, with the Red Line now running 29 stations from Tamsui in the northwest to Xinyi District in the southeast.
