Nantou police stop drug-impaired driver after speeding through town
A driver in Nantou County who took drugs before getting behind the wheel was pulled over and arrested, a win for road safety in central Taiwan.
- A man surnamed Su drove through several intersections in Caotun without slowing down, with one headlight out.
- Patrol officers signalled him to stop, and he only pulled over after being followed.
- Officers found heroin, meth, an etomidate vape pod and drug paraphernalia in the car, and a saliva test came back positive.
- He faces charges of endangering public safety and drug offences; his car was impounded and his plates suspended.
Outlook: The case now goes to prosecutors in Nantou, and police say patrols targeting drug-impaired driving will continue.
