Man jailed for dragging girl into school toilet in Kaohsiung
A court in Kaohsiung has jailed a man who lured a primary school girl into a toilet and covered her mouth, a case that has left the child's family angry and unwilling to forgive.
- A man walked into a school in Kaohsiung's Lingya district, tricked a girl waiting for her family into coming closer, and locked her in a toilet.
- The girl fought back and screamed until he opened the door and fled; police tracked him down soon after.
- Doctors found he has moderate intellectual disability and schizophrenia, and was hearing voices telling him what to do at the time.
- It was not his first time — he had already been investigated for touching a high school girl's face and pinching and sniffing a child at a ball court.
- The girl's mother refused to settle, saying mental illness is no excuse and he should get proper treatment.
Outlook: He was given five months, which can be converted to a fine, but must then spend two years in psychiatric care and life training to stop him reoffending; the ruling can still be appealed.
