Kaohsiung driver rear-ends same truck twice, arrested for drug driving with cash and drugs in car

Aug 19, 2026

A bizarre double crash in Kaohsiung led police to a driver high on drugs, carrying a large stash and a pile of cash.

  • A 36-year-old man rear-ended a small truck early one morning in Fengshan district, then hit the same truck again while moving his car at the officers' request.
  • The repeat crash made police suspicious; a roadside saliva test came back positive for ketamine and meth.
  • Searching him and the car turned up dozens of grams of ketamine, drug-laced coffee sachets, a set of scales, and over NT$130,000 in cash.
  • The coffee packets tested positive for cathinone, a newer synthetic drug spreading through Taiwan's party scene.
  • He admits holding the drugs but denies dealing; nobody was hurt in either crash.

Outlook: He faces drug and public-endangerment charges, and police are tracing where the drugs came from.
