Chen Chi-mai's New Book Opens for Pre-order, with a Video Endorsement from Su Tseng-chang
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai has released a new book chronicling six years of city administration, with pre-orders opening tomorrow. Former President Tsai Ing-wen and former Premier Su Tseng-chang have both recorded videos in support, a positive signal for unity within the Democratic Progressive Party.
- The new book, "Kaohsiung, Go Go Go! 2,314 Days of Extreme Transformation," opens for pre-order on Books.com.tw, Eslite and momo starting August 21.
- In his endorsement video, Su Tseng-chang looked back on inviting Chen Chi-mai to join the cabinet, saying he was glad to have recruited talent for the country.
- He revealed that he is a "morning person," and that Chen Chi-mai had figured out his routine — unlike Tsai Ing-wen, who would call late at night. He joked, "He wouldn't call me, and he wouldn't dare."
- In private, the two discuss not only official business but, more often, personal matters, and their relationship is closer than the public imagines.
- Each retailer is offering exclusive gifts: Books.com.tw has a limited-edition transparent card hand-drawn by Chen Chi-mai, while Eslite is offering a printed version of his signature.
Outlook: With Tsai Ing-wen and Su Tseng-chang appearing in support one after the other, Chen Chi-mai's standing within the party appears to be on the rise, and his next political moves are worth watching.
