Yilan Distillery Welcomes Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim; Han Ying and Lin Kuo-chang Promote Old Town Cultural Tourism Corridor

Aug 19, 2026

The Vice President visited the century-old Yilan Distillery, praising local industry and talent — a positive signal for Yilan tourism and Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation's marketing.

  • Hsiao Bi-khim toured the Yilan Distillery and sampled its red yeast rice wine, saying that TTL products have long served as Taiwan's calling card when hosting foreign guests.
  • Han Ying, known as the "daughter of the distillery," led the tour in person; her father worked at the distillery for many years.
  • Lin Kuo-chang, a policy advisor to the Executive Yuan, gave Han Ying a strong endorsement, saying her experience in diplomacy and international marketing makes her the best fit for marketing Yilan and TTL.
  • Lin Kuo-chang proposed linking the distillery with historic sites such as the Yilan Administration Memorial Hall, the Yilan Literature Museum, the railway station shopping district and the City God Temple to form an old town cultural tourism route.
  • Hsiao Bi-khim paid tribute to the distillery's workers and labour union, and stressed that Lai Ching-te's push for balanced development across regions and industries requires local government heads to help put it into practice.

Outlook: The visit carried a strong flavour of pre-election campaign support, and Han Ying's move toward a run for Yilan City mayor is becoming increasingly apparent.
