Tainan is rolling out a month of perks for active-duty soldiers in September, good news for service members and a modest boost for local shops and hotels.

• All Greater Tainan bus routes will be free to ride for active-duty military during September.
• Soldiers showing military ID get free entry to museums and attractions, plus discounts and giveaways at shops.
• More than 30 venues, 115 stores and over 40 hotels have signed up, spanning shopping districts, historic sites, culture parks, scenic areas and sports facilities.
• The push is timed to Armed Forces Day on September 3 and marks the second year of the program, now widened to include night markets and tourist factories.
