Taichung is adding and rerouting buses around a newly built school in Beitun, good news for families in a fast-growing part of the city.

• The new Nanxing junior high and elementary school starts taking students this semester.
• Route 921 already runs extra morning school-run trips under a new timetable.
• Route 922 will change its path from the start of term to pass closer to the school and stop at Nanxing Park.
• Beitun is Taichung's most populated district, with nearly 320,000 people, and the newer redevelopment areas were poorly served by existing bus lines.
• The area is also getting elevated rail and a new Songzhu station, which combined with the metro green line has pulled in a lot of new residents.

Outlook: City transport officials say they will keep reviewing routes and timetables with bus operators as demand in the district grows.
