A rider survived being crushed by a gravel truck's wheels in Taichung after losing control of his motorcycle, a rare good outcome in a horrific crash.

  • A 25-year-old man fell off his motorcycle on a busy Taichung road and slid straight into the path of a gravel truck beside him.
  • The truck rolled over his left arm and leg before the driver could react — the rider had landed in the driver's blind spot.
  • He stayed conscious and was rushed to hospital, where doctors saved his life.
  • The truck driver stopped immediately and helped with the rescue; police are still checking camera footage to work out the cause.
  • Police are warning riders to stay away from the sides of trucks, where drivers cannot see them and there is no room to escape.
