Innolux hit by heavy foreign selling as Taiwan stocks drop
Taiwan's stock market fell sharply on Wednesday, and display maker Innolux took the worst of it — bad news for its million-plus shareholders.
- The main index dropped almost 1,000 points at one stage before closing down 589, falling below a key trend line.
- Tech and financial stocks led the slide, while AI, optical, shipping, food and tourism names held up and cushioned the fall.
- Foreign investors sold heavily again, dumping over NT$41 billion of Taiwanese shares on the day.
- Innolux was the single most-sold stock, with foreign funds, brokers and local investment trusts all selling at once, pushing it down 5.6% for a second straight losing day.
- Chip and financial names such as Powerchip and several bank holding companies also landed near the top of the selling list.
Outlook: With all three major institutional groups on the sell side, Innolux and other heavily sold names look vulnerable to more pressure until foreign buying returns.
