Hochuen bets on physical AI, targeting humanoid robots as its next growth driver

Aug 19, 2026

Taiwanese automation equipment maker Hochuen is putting its resources behind humanoid robots and physical AI — a moderately positive growth story for investors, though real-world deployment will still take time.

  • Hochuen chairman Chang Yi-sheng said the functional robot business is currently growing fast, and that the next wave of momentum will be placed on humanoid robots.
  • The company divides its growth into three tiers: automation components and semiconductor process equipment provide stable cash flow, functional robots are the main growth engine today, and humanoid robots are the future.
  • To get humanoid robots genuinely "on the job," Hochuen has invested early in collecting data from real-world settings, integrating sensor and workflow data from different factories to train its models.
  • It showcased an "unmanned factory" solution for the first time, in which retail robots, unmanned forklifts, AMRs, wheeled robots and humanoid robots work in relay to complete the entire process from out-of-stock detection to transport and shelf restocking.
  • Its customer base has expanded from semiconductors and electronics manufacturing into healthcare, hospitality and food service, as the company seeks to shift from selling equipment to selling AI and robotics solutions.

Outlook: Near-term revenue will still rest on existing automation and functional robots, with humanoid robots only contributing meaningfully once enough data and field experience have accumulated.
