Fugitive drug packing operation broken up in Keelung
New Taipei police captured a wanted man who had been running a drug-packing operation while on the run with his girlfriend, in a raid that also seized heroin, meth and etomidate.
- A 53-year-old man wanted on drug, weapons and obstruction charges was arrested asleep in a Keelung apartment after armed officers with shields broke in.
- He was avoiding a combined prison sentence of more than nine years and had moved hiding places four times to stay with his girlfriend.
- Police found heroin, meth, etomidate, scales, zip bags, needles and over a hundred empty vape cartridges, pointing to a repackaging operation.
- He claimed the drugs were for personal use, but both he and the woman were high when caught.
Outlook: Both have been handed to prosecutors, and police are still tracing where the drugs came from.
