A youth handball team from New Taipei City swept two age-group titles at an international tournament in Spain, a proud moment for the town that sent them.

• The Chengzhou Elementary team took first place in both the U12 boys' and U12 girls' divisions at the Salnés Cup in Spain, with the U14 squad finishing fifth.
• The kids played through extreme heat against strong teams from other countries and came out on top.
• Back home in Wugu, parents, local temples and community leaders threw a parade with jeeps leading five buses carrying nearly 200 students, coaches and guests.
• The convoy stretched over 100 metres through the streets and ended at a local temple with celebration performances.

Outlook: The win puts more attention on Taiwan's grassroots handball programs, which have been quietly building youth talent for years.
