A small truck burst into flames on the elevated section of Taipei's Civic Boulevard on Tuesday evening, but the driver got out in time and nobody was hurt.

• The truck caught fire on its own in the Zhongshan District stretch of the elevated road, with flames shooting into the air.
• The driver stopped and jumped out immediately, escaping without injury.
• Firefighters were called just before 7 p.m. and put the fire out about half an hour later, leaving only the burnt frame of the truck.
• The blaze hit during evening rush hour and backed up traffic on one of the city's main routes.

Outlook: Fire officials are still trying to work out what started the fire.
