Team Taiwan Blue has struggled at this year's William Jones Cup, while Team Taiwan White has stayed competitive on the back of Kao Kuo-Hao's scoring firepower. Head coach Tuzi has stepped forward to explain the thinking behind how the squads were divided.

• Kao Kuo-Hao was placed on the White team so that he would get more playing time.
• Pai Yao-Cheng and Lin Cheng were likewise assigned to the White team, for the same reason: to give young players room to perform.
• The two rosters were decided jointly after prior discussions between the Blue and White teams, with players deliberately distributed evenly.
• The Blue team is built around the Asian Games national squad, but several key players have yet to be registered, and Kao Po-Kai has been unwell, leaving the roster severely short-handed.
• The Blue team currently sits third in its group at 1-3, though it will advance to the final four regardless of where it finishes.

Outlook: The Blue team will carry its injury problems into the final four, while the White team has a chance to ride Kao Kuo-Hao's performances all the way to the semi-finals.
