Renewed attention on the Epstein case now stretches back to Hugh Hefner and Playboy, and it looks bad for the FBI.

• Reports say Hefner alerted the FBI about Epstein more than once, years before charges came.
• Playboy and Hefner faced similar accusations of their own going back to the 1970s.
• The list of powerful men tied to Epstein keeps resurfacing: Bill Gates, Les Wexner, Leon Black, Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton, Ehud Barak, Glenn Dubin.
• The sharpest criticism is aimed at the delay — the FBI sat on warnings for years while a crowded news cycle buried the story.

Outlook: Expect more pressure on the FBI over what it knew and when, as new names and documents keep trickling out.
