Keelung's Anle District is to gain 43 new car parking spaces, welcome news for local residents who struggle to find somewhere to park.

  • Construction on the Anhe 1st Street Lane 271 car park began today and is scheduled for completion on 1 November.
  • The project covers a total length of about 196 metres, running from the pavilion area to the point opposite the side gate of Jiande Junior High School, at a cost of around NT$8.13 million.
  • The existing pavilion and steps will be demolished and resurfaced to create a double-row parking area, with single-row spaces marked out along the remaining stretch.
  • The city government is pushing forward four off-street car parks this year, which on completion will add 90 car spaces (including two charging points) and 128 motorcycle spaces.
  • The longer-term plan calls for nine neighbourhood car parks, providing a combined 375 car spaces and 202 motorcycle spaces.

Looking ahead: the car park at Baifu Station is likewise expected to be completed in November, while the two sites in Nuannuan and Qidu will not be ready until January next year. A multi-storey car park depends on funding from the central government and the city government.
