Taipei police broke up several drug-dealing operations, arresting armed suspects and seizing guns, ammunition, and large stashes of drugs — good news for law enforcement's anti-drug push.

• After tracing a drug case to its source, police spent three months watching two men in Taoyuan who sold drugs and carried weapons, then raided them.
• The raid turned up a modified submachine gun, 20 rounds of ammunition, hundreds of drug-laced coffee packets, ecstasy, and etomidate powder.
• The two suspects were charged in July, one also facing weapons charges.
• Separate sweeps hit drug-packaging sites across New Taipei and Taipei, arresting more suspects with heroin, meth, and etomidate.
• Several drivers and riders were caught fleeing checkpoints and testing positive for drugs, adding drug-driving charges.

Outlook: Police say they will keep tracing these networks upward to arrest higher-level suppliers.
