A mother in Miaoli, Taiwan crashed her car while distracted talking to her daughters, injuring all three — bad news, though no lives are in danger.

  • A 32-year-old mother was driving her two young daughters through Yuanli when she got distracted chatting and lost control, hitting a metal light pole.
  • The 8-year-old in the back seat was hurt worst, breaking her right arm and right leg, plus a scrape on her forehead.
  • The mother suffered cuts to her chin and right knee, and the 9-year-old had scrapes on her right elbow and lower leg.
  • Police tested the mother and found no alcohol or drugs involved; she was simply distracted.
  • All three were taken to hospital by ambulance and are expected to survive.

Outlook: Police are still determining the exact cause and where responsibility lies, and are urging drivers not to let conversations or other distractions take their attention off the road.
