Kaohsiung Family Amusement Park Draws Cross-County Families During Summer Holidays; Most Visitors Come from Tainan and Pingtung
Kaohsiung's newly opened family amusement park has become a popular summer holiday destination, with families from outside the county pouring in despite the rain — good news for local tourism.
- The park was converted from the former Taiwan Railways Kaohsiung Freight Car Factory. Covering 1.5 hectares, it preserves the railway architectural character of 1975 while adding solar panels.
- It opened on August 8, Father's Day, drawing more than 65,000 visits in its first two days.
- Although it rained last Saturday, the park still saw 18,000 visits over the day, with visitors from outside the county making up more than 40 percent.
- Among out-of-town visitors, the largest numbers came from Tainan and Pingtung, while families also travelled across county lines specifically from Taichung, New Taipei, Taoyuan, and Taipei.
Outlook: The park has around 30 age-differentiated recreational facilities and is expected to remain a fixed highlight for family outings in southern Taiwan even after the summer holidays end.
