A charity health event in Taipei gave hundreds of migrant workers free medical checks, a small but welcome help for a group that rarely gets time to see a doctor.

• More than 200 migrant workers got free checkups at Taipei Main Station on Sunday, including dental, ultrasound, and specialist consultations.
• Many are live-in caregivers who get just one day off a month, so seeing a clinic is normally very hard.
• The program has run since 2004 and logged over 20,000 visits, with follow-up care when problems turn up — one worker was sent to a hospital after fibroids were found.
• Taipei has roughly 50,000 migrant workers; the service is open to anyone with legal residency who brings their ARC.

Outlook: One more free event is planned for Oct. 4 at the same station to close out the year.
