First Midsummer Fun fireworks show lights up New Taipei's Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf, with over 10,000 fireworks illuminating the Tamsui River waterfront
The summer fireworks show at New Taipei's Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf kicked off on Sunday evening, offering local residents and tourists a romantic nighttime view of the river and sea — a piece of light, feel-good news about a local event.
- The first fireworks show, themed "Qixi Star Chain," featured more than 10,000 fireworks launched over a span of 10 minutes.
- This set a record for the most fireworks launched in a single session in the history of Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf's Midsummer Fun event, with cascades of gold and silver light shimmering alongside Lovers' Bridge and the harbour night view.
- The waterfronts on both the Bali and Tamsui sides drew around 70,000 people to watch.
- The event was originally scheduled to begin on August 9 but was postponed due to the arrival of Typhoon Bailu (White Dolphin), with the first session moved to the evening of the 16th and paired with River and Sea Music Season performances starting in the afternoon.
Outlook: Two more fireworks shows are still to come on Sunday evenings, while the postponed session will be made up on August 30.
