Twenty-year-old Taiwanese competitor Chang Hong-lun took second place at the World Yo-Yo Contest held at Himeji Castle in Japan, setting a new record for Taiwan — an uplifting piece of good news.

• Competing as Taiwan's champion, Chang Hong-lun took part in the 4A offstring freestyle division, having placed first in the previous day's semifinal to advance to the grand finals.
