The Democratic Progressive Party held its 2026 county and city policy briefing, "A Good Life for Taiwan," in Zhubei City, Hsinchu County, focusing on education, transport, and urban-rural governance, and sending a positive message to local voters.

• Zhubei Mayor Cheng Chao-fang shared his administration's achievements, expressing hope to extend Zhubei's experience to the 13 townships of Hsinchu County.
• During his term in Zhubei, more than a hundred kilometres of road surfaces were improved, over 60% of street lights were switched to LEDs, and the sanitation team became the first among Taiwan's county-administered cities to win both ISO and CNS certification.
• Minister of Education Cheng Ying-yao presented measures including tuition and fee reductions at private universities, free tuition for senior high schools, and lower interest rates on student loans, and added senior high and vocational school classes in response to population growth in the Hsinchu-Miaoli area.
• Deputy Minister of Transportation and Communications Wu Sheng-yuan said transport is the most pressing pain point for Hsinchu residents, and that the central government would invest resources to ease the greater Hsinchu area's transport bottlenecks.

Outlook: This briefing served as a warm-up for the 2026 county and city elections, and the DPP will continue to campaign on its education and transport record to win the support of Hsinchu voters.
