A mountain survey party was attacked by hornets on the Lanren River in Manzhou Township, Pingtung. One woman has been rescued and taken to hospital, while two men remain missing and are being searched for, in a worrying situation.

• On the 12th, three members of the Chinese Hiking Association and the Mountain Rescue Association entered the Lanren River to conduct an advance survey ahead of an event on the 16th. Family members reported them missing after losing contact.
• Yesterday morning, a woman surnamed Zhang phoned for help, saying that two of her companions had been stung by hornets and were in cardiopulmonary arrest before arrival at hospital.
• The scene of the accident was far from any road, with steep terrain and dense forest, and heavy thunderstorms had left the mountain paths slippery, making the rescue extremely difficult.
• Rescuers took turns carrying her out, and it was only around 4 a.m. today that the stung Ms. Zhang was brought to Hengchun Tourism Hospital.
• At 6 a.m., police, volunteer firefighters, the coast guard and mountain rescue personnel regrouped and pushed forward to search for the two missing men, and requested an airborne helicopter for support subject to weather conditions.
