Lienchiang County Launches Sugar-Free Drink Discount Campaign Starting Today to Encourage Residents to Cut Sugar
The Lienchiang County government has launched a summer sugar-reduction campaign, good news for both residents looking to drink fewer sugary beverages and shops selling sugar-free drinks.
- From today until October 16, the Lienchiang County Public Health Bureau is partnering with 11 hand-shaken drink shops, coffee shops, and FamilyMart convenience stores in the county to offer discounts on sugar-free drink purchases.
- Buy a certified sugar-free drink and you can draw a voucher worth between NT$5 and NT$50 to use on your next purchase; buy a designated freshly brewed sugar-free tea at FamilyMart and the first 1,000 customers at each branch each month get NT$5 off directly.
- Fill out a survey and you can also enter a draw for a convenience store gift card worth NT$200. The campaign is funded by a subsidy from the Ministry of Health and Welfare's long-term care fund.
- To reduce single-use paper cups and waste, bringing your own cup to a convenience store gets you NT$10 off — NT$5 from the store and another NT$5 added by the county government, the highest in Taiwan.
Outlook: The campaign will run until mid-October, aiming to help residents develop sugar-reduction habits and to encourage shops to make and sell more sugar-free drinks.
