Hawaii honored four hometown athletes and a coach at this year's Hall of Fame banquet, a feel-good night celebrating the islands' sports history.

• Surfer Carlos Moniz went in after winning back-to-back world titles in 2012 and 2013.
• Beth McLaughlin, a volleyball star for the University of Hawaii and the U.S. Olympic team, was the first Rainbow Wahine to get an athletic scholarship.
• Coach Tony Solito is the only basketball coach in state history to win both a high school and a college national title, with Maryknoll in 1984 and HPU in 1993.
• Skateboarder Darren Ho, one of the first nationally sponsored riders from Hawaii, was recognized as a pioneer of the 1970s skateboarding scene.

Outlook: The Hall of Fame, founded by the late Larry Price who died this past March, will keep adding to Hawaii's sports legacy in future years.
