The Honolulu City Council has confirmed Krishna Jayaram as the city's new managing director, settling a top leadership post.

• Jayaram will run the day-to-day operations of city government.

• He had been serving in the role on a designate basis before the vote made it official.
• The job opened up after Mike Forbes left in June.
