A Waianae, Hawaii couple has been jailed on accusations they tortured, starved, and confined a teenage boy for two years, in a case that has stunned their neighbors.

• A 13-year-old boy escaped his home on St. John's Road late Thursday and told police his parents had tortured him.
• His mother, Jasmine Kidos Pelle, and stepfather, James Hefernan, were arrested Friday and appeared before a judge for the first time.
