Taiwan's opposition parties are signalling they will cooperate rather than fight each other in Pingtung ahead of local elections, a positive sign for the KMT-TPP alliance.

• TPP founder Ko Wen-je went to Pingtung to register the party's three local candidates, and said the blue-white camps should not turn on each other when they can work together.
• KMT candidate for Pingtung county chief Su Ching-chuan showed up in support and said the alliance there is absolutely fine.
• Questions about the KMT nominating too many council candidates in one district were brushed aside, with the point made that the DPP also fields full slates in multi-seat races.
• The TPP council candidate in question, Lin Yu-hsien, is a former KMT county party official, which makes the tie-up easier.

Outlook: Expect the two parties to keep coordinating in Pingtung, even while their candidates compete for the same council seats.
