屏東連日豪雨 周春米赴枋寮、林邊、新園勘災
Heavy rain has flooded several parts of Pingtung County, and local officials are scrambling with pumps while promising bigger fixes that will take years.
- Days of heavy rain overwhelmed drainage systems in Fangliao, Linbian and Xinyuan townships, leaving streets and villages underwater.
- County chief Chou Chun-mi toured the pumping stations and flood works, with troops and mobile pumps on standby.
- Xinlong village floods easily because it sits low, its drainage embankments are too short, and dense fish-farming pipes clog the flow to the pump station built in 2024.
- Linbian's pump station, built in 2008, can no longer keep up with faster runoff from upstream development; the county is asking the central government for about NT$5 billion to more than double its capacity.
- Port-side Kangxi village has no proper drainage network at all, so crews are pumping water through an existing highway culvert as a stopgap.
Outlook: Mobile pumps will keep the water down for now, but real relief depends on the Linbian expansion and a new drainage plan that will take years to build.
