Hawaiian Humane Society PetWalk Draws More Than 1,100 to Kapiolani Park

Oct 25, 2026

A community fundraising walk in Honolulu pulled in a big crowd and extra attention for local animal welfare efforts.

  • More than 1,100 people walked the 1.8-mile route through Kapiolani Park, with a costume contest for pets alongside the main walk.
  • Money raised goes straight to the Hawaiian Humane Society, which shelters, heals, reunites, and rehomes about 13,000 animals a year on Oahu.
  • Adoption fees were waived for dogs at the event, and fees will stay waived this weekend at the Moʻiliʻili and Kosasa Family campuses.
  • The event also marked 25 years of Animal CrimeStoppers, a joint program with Honolulu Crime Stoppers that lets people report suspected animal cruelty anonymously; First Hawaiian Bank joined this year to help spread the word, and the program has already logged over 147 cruelty tips across Oahu in 2026.

Outlook: Expect continued waived-fee adoption events this weekend and ongoing outreach to grow anonymous tip reporting through Animal CrimeStoppers.
