The collapse of cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Taiwan People's Party in Hsinchu is escalating, with figures inside the KMT warning that the infighting will ultimately only benefit the Democratic Progressive Party.

Outlook: With the local elections counting down, if the blue and white camps cannot return to the negotiating table in the near term, the key northern Taiwan battlegrounds of the 2026 local elections may end up clearing a path for the DPP.
